Program overview

RS 103 is a concentrated day class for students and working techs who want focused residential AC and heat pump service practice in a short timeframe. If you can’t commit to an 8-week evening program, this is the condensed version of the ACHP-105 course.

The course is built around active bench and equipment work, which makes it a strong fit for people who learn best by doing rather than watching slides. It is optimized for easy scheduling and students coming in from out of the area.

What you’ll practice
  • Troubleshooting AC and heat pump systems, components, and controls.
  • Compressor testing, refrigerant recovery, charging, and performance checks.
  • Airflow measurement and adjustment on residential equipment.
  • Mini-split installation and field-style service work on package and split systems.
  • Systematic diagnostic workflow from complaint to confirmed repair.
Who this course is best for

Students who want to accelerate service skills quickly, or working techs who need a strong residential refresher before a busy season.

What to expect: high-intensity week with a lot of hands-on time. Come rested, you’ll get a lot more out of it.

Tools you’ll bring on day one
  • Fluke 323 amp probe (or equivalent)
  • Fluke 116 VOM multimeter
  • Three-port R-22 / R-410a manifold gauge set

Books and lab materials are included with tuition. Not sure where to source the tools? Ask when you call, and we’ll point you to the right suppliers.
