Program overview

REF 202 is a focused refrigeration-controls class for students who already have a basic HVAC foundation and want sharper commercial wiring and controls skills, especially on walk-in coolers, freezers, and low-temp equipment.

The course connects wiring diagrams, sequence of operation, and hands-on troubleshooting on real commercial components so you can step confidently onto a service call at the grocery store, restaurant, or cold storage customer.

What you’ll practice
  • Tracing refrigeration controls through wiring diagrams and sequence of operation.
  • Understanding accessories, valves, and control components used in walk-in equipment.
  • Connecting electrical troubleshooting to product temperature and system performance.
  • Building confidence with commercial refrigeration logic beyond basic residential service.
